Summertime | Steeven Malcom ft Snoop Dogg

When Steven Malcolm dropped “Summertime,” we knew this wasn’t just another seasonal anthem—it was a full-on vibe. The track pulses with nostalgia and celebration, blending hip-hop roots with a sun-soaked melody that feels like backyard cookouts, cruising with the windows down, and late-night bonfires all rolled into one. Steven wanted a music video that captured that atmosphere—undeniably fun, effortlessly cool, and full of life. That’s where Lot35 came in.
We approached the video like a memory in motion—fragmented moments strung together by pure energy. No script, no forced storyline. Just movement, color, and community. From the jump, we knew the key was authenticity—this couldn’t feel staged. So we built the concept around real people, real joy, and the magic of summer done right.
“Our DP built a visual language around sun flares, slow motion, and handheld freedom—everything had to feel alive.”
The shoot took place over two golden-hour evenings in Grand Rapids, Steven’s hometown. We filmed at a neighborhood block party complete with barbershop chairs on sidewalks, kids riding bikes, food on the grill, and impromptu dance battles. There were no extras—just friends, family, and fans. That was the point.
“We weren’t casting summer. We were capturing it.”
We shot the band and Steven performing live on a rooftop as the city skyline turned amber behind them. Then we cut between those rooftop moments and the street-level energy below. B-roll was captured documentary-style—real laughs, real conversations, real movement. The transitions were punchy but smooth, riding the rhythm of the track without ever overpowering it.
The final cut dropped just as the weather turned warm, and instantly connected. Fans responded to the authenticity, calling it “the soundtrack of the season.” It was featured on major hip-hop playlists and picked up by BET Gospel and Rapzilla, with behind-the-scenes content fueling ongoing engagement throughout the summer.
“Summertime” was more than a music video. It was an open invitation to joy, community, and freedom—the exact kind of energy that makes a hit last long after the season ends.
